Healthy weight management is a very crucial component of physical fitness. It is important to maintain a healthy weight within the bounds of a normal BMI or Body Mass Index.


BMI


Body Mass Index is an indication of our weight status in relation to our height and waist circumference. It is calculated by dividing the weight of our body in kilogram by the square of our height in meters.


A BMI below 18.5 is deemed to be underweight and you could be suffering from nutritional deficiencies. An index ranging from 18.5 to 24.9 is deemed to be the normal weight. A person in this range is found to be healthy usually.


The BMI range from 25 to 29.9 is said to be overweight category. You would have to keep an on unhealthy eating and other lifestyle choices to control weight gain. A BMI value above 30 denotes the presence of obesity. Obesity is a leading contributor to a number of chronic diseases having a high rate of incidence today.
